What’s Your True Weight with the Dukan Diet

Home / Nutrition / What’s Your True Weight with the Dukan Diet

I first heard about the Dukan Diet during the royal wedding hype. Rumors flew that the now Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton  and her sister Pippa were following this diet in preparation for the wedding. Next one of my friends asked me my thoughts  on the diet shortly afterwards. I didn’t know much about it until recently when I was contacted by a DukanDiet.com representative asking me if I was interested in testing the plan out.

At first I was reluctant due to my “non-diet only real food” belief but once I went online to check it out, it didn’t look too bad since it is real food they are suggesting I eat.  So I agreed to participate in their program in return for my thoughts. So here goes.

This is how it works:

Finding Your True Weight: Each person’s True Weight is unique and based on answers to a few short questions. Before beginning The Dukan Diet, members calculate their True Weight – a realistic, healthy weight that can be reached and maintained for life. This is calculated by the 80 questions asked prior to beginning the plan. This helped define my personalized program for my daily needs and current structure. Members may find their True Weight and register for online Weight Loss Coaching.

There are over 100 real foods to choose from which impressed me. No processed food crap like other weight loss programs. This also reduced the boredom factor that usually kicks in with restrictive diet plans. Foods were unlimited and free to eat at any time depending on the phase you were in at the time. Oat Bran is the staple on this plan since it creates a feeling of fullness.

The program is done online daily using an interactive interface which looks like the diagram below.

I’m quite pleased with the results I’ve had over the last 2 weeks. Yes, I fell off the wagon a few times but then quickly regained control and went back on the plan.  My clothes are fitting looser and I’m thrilled. My only issue with the plan is that they suggest drinking diet pop and water if you are thirsty. Diet pop is terrible for you no question about it and really is the opposite of the nutritious food options and recipes they provide. However, one can make the choice to not drink it even if it’s suggested.

All in all, I know what the plan is all about and can now honestly answer any questions my friends have regarding the program.
